Description
The theme for this project, at the client’s request, was for the design elements to be organic, abstract, like “rivers” of rich colors and textures, that flow, meander and intertwine all throughout the exterior backyard structures. The mosaics are applied to and integrated recessed into several types of surfaces, starting at the veranda level, down the steps and down onto the swimming pool. All of the mosaics were pre-assembled with tile tape or on mesh in the Artist's studio, and brought to the project site section by section ready for installation, and all the while when the residence was undergoing a total and substantial remodel. The mosaic design begins at the upper level veranda from over the fireplace, and it literally flows downward over the hearth, spilling onto the floor, over the edge onto the large wall, and leading down into the swimming pool. In addition, the mosaics also flow over and down the steps, onto the landings, and leading into the garden. The client named her Spanish Revival style home and remodel project “Casa de Glory”!
