Description

Designed as progressive or sequential teaser signs that build anticipation mile by mile (which first appeared and made popular during the highway booms, particularly the 1950s-1960s, and now what is known as “roadside Americana”) is the theme behind this project, hinting at what lies ahead when heading west on Grand Avenue towards the big blue Pacific Ocean! Each permanent cast concrete with recessed mosaic freestanding sculpture indicates what is ahead, and that being the beach, ocean life, fun in the sun, surfing the waves – a true celebration of the community of Pacific Beach and the San Diego region!

A special THANK YOU goes to the following: the artist’s husband Dennis Reiter who is an amazing artist, business partner and photographer, Bill Damme of Sundt Construction – concrete division, Andy Sanford of Simon Wong Engineering, and Bob’s Crane Service.
