Pioneer School Community
Mosaic
This mosaic mural project was supported
by Socios Unidos para Artes
via Educacion (SUAVE) and approved
by the Unified School District
of Escondido, California. Emerson
went on a “treasure hunt” asking each class at Pioneer
Elementary School “What
is community?” The students responded with drawings of
nature, family, friends and learning. She put their ideas into
the design and each child at the school placed their “tessera”
into this 9’ long by 5’ high mural located at the
school entrance. Completed June 2001. |
