Kim Emerson
Kim Emerson is a graduate of the University of Oregon, with a Bachelor of Arts degree focusing on interior design, art history, and architectural history. She also has a Master of Science degree in Historic Preservation of architecture from the U of O. She is basically a self-taught mosaicist and has been creating mosaics since 1990. She started as a result of volunteering to help build a kindergarten school in Tijuana, Mexico with internationally acclaimed artist/architect James Hubbell. She has been a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) since 2003 where she occasionally teaches workshops about public art. Kim primarily applies her mosaics to large-scale installations and has created residential and public art projects in Arizona, California, Idaho, Massachusetts, and Oregon. Her focus now is on her fine art studio series called ‘Mazel tov”. Kim is also currently enjoying learning more about mosaic techniques by taking her first series of classes through the workshops offered during SAMA conferences.
